The club is famous for its excellent youth academy that has developed many future stars and for the remarkable stability of its head coach – the passionate Christian Streich has led the team for over a decade. Freiburg plays its home matches at the Europa-Park Stadion, a modern ground with a capacity of over 34,000. Despite having a relatively small budget, the team often punches above its weight and regularly competes for European spots. In the 2022/23 season, they even played in the UEFA Europa League.
