Borussia Dortmund, commonly referred to as BVB (short for Ballspielverein Borussia 09 e. V. Dortmund), is one of Germany’s most legendary football clubs. Founded in 1909 by a group of young men defying their church-sponsored sports organization, BVB was born out of rebellion — and that spirit lives on.

Dortmund is world-renowned for its passionate fanbase. Its home, the legendary Signal Iduna Park (formerly Westfalenstadion), holds over 81,000 spectators, making it the largest stadium in Germany and one of the loudest in Europe. The southern stand – the iconic “Yellow Wall” (Gelbe Wand) – is the largest standing terrace in Europe, accommodating up to 25,000 standing fans. When “You’ll Never Walk Alone” echoes across the stadium, even rivals feel the chills.

The club boasts a rich and successful history, including:

  • winning the UEFA Champions League in 1997, defeating Juventus in the final,

  • securing 8 Bundesliga titles, the latest in 2012 under the charismatic Jürgen Klopp,

  • lifting the DFB Pokal (German Cup) five times.

Borussia Dortmund is also famous for being a breeding ground for talent. The world stage has seen stars rise from BVB’s ranks, including Erling Haaland, Jadon Sancho, Christian Pulisic, Ilkay Gündoğan, and Robert Lewandowski, who became a superstar in Dortmund before joining Bayern.

What makes BVB truly special is its social commitment. The club actively promotes inclusion, anti-racism, and community engagement, supporting charity work and fan-led initiatives.

Borussia Dortmund is more than a club — it’s a movement, a passion, and a way of life. For any football lover, witnessing a match from the “Yellow Wall” is an unforgettable, bucket-list experience.
