Who: Sport-Club Freiburg e.V., commonly known as SC Freiburg, is a German football club founded in 1904 in the city of Freiburg im Breisgau, Baden-Württemberg. The team plays in the Bundesliga, having been promoted as champions from the 2. Bundesliga in 2016. SC Freiburg is known for its stable personnel policy; Achim Stocker served as the club's president from 1972 until his death in 2009. Longtime coach Volker Finke (1991–2007) initiated the club's football school.
Where: Between 1954 and 2021, the club's home was the Dreisamstadion. In 2021, the club moved to the newly built Europa-Park Stadion, which has a capacity of approximately 34,700 spectators. SC Freiburg is also recognized for its ecological approach; photovoltaic panels were installed on the previous Dreisamstadion, making it the first solar-powered stadium.
